Barton also assists a number of nationwide and local businesses with their commercial leasing arrangements. In addition, Barton has successfully navigated foreign multinationals through New Zealand’s overseas investment regime to acquire sensitive land in New Zealand.
Barton has practised law in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Middle East. He worked in the United Arab Emirates for ten years and was a partner of English law firm, Clyde & Co, based in Dubai.
Barton has been “Recommended” by Legal 500 which referred to his “very good response times, strong industry knowledge, and appropriate advice.” In 2024, Barton was also named as a “Notable Practitioner” in the IFLR1000 rankings.
Outside of work, Barton enjoys following and supporting his four children in their sporting endeavours on football fields, golf courses, netball courts and at rowing regattas. Whenever time allows, he will head to Huapai Golf Course to continue his love/hate relationship with the game of golf.
